Lightweight Alchemy System with Crafting Rooms and Basic Ingredient Potions
I would like to suggest a lightweight and optional alchemy system that could expand gameplay depth without overcomplicating WazHack. The idea is to introduce “Alchemy Rooms” that can appear in certain dungeon levels, similar to shops or temples. In these rooms, the player could combine basic ingredients found in the dungeon (such as sugar, salt, soda, herbs, or dyes) to create simple potions. The system would work as follows: Players collect ingredients from chests, enemies, or loot. In an Alchemy Room, the player pays a small amount of gold or gives items to an NPC alchemist. The NPC performs a simple crafting process (with a short animation or text result). The result is a potion with a randomized or semi-controlled effect (healing, buffs, utility, etc.). This system would: Increase the value of exploration and loot collection. Add more strategic choices for inventory management. Create more interaction between NPCs and player resources. Keep the core gameplay simple and optional, without forcing crafting on the player. It would fit naturally alongside existing NPCs like merchants and priests, and would enhance replayability by giving more uses to common items.
